Our client, Kiditech Inc., an local non-profit early education business
located in the San Francisco Bay Area, organizes summer camps to
teach children in K-12 coding.
They have hundreds of kids minimum attending their summer camps each summer. Being so close to the silicon valley and the innovative minds, the business reached to us to build a educational game that facilitates coding education. They decided to hire us to build a coding game for their summer camp coding sessions.
This whole project was developed by an multidisciplinary team consists of Unity Developer, UI Deisgner, 3D Animator, and Backend Engineer. It perfectly served the need of Kiditech by enabling them to teach children in their summer camps how to code in a fun way. The effectiveness of this project also led to our second project with them: "Ballad of Squirrel".
For better performance for potential lower-end desktops, we used Low Poly style for our game arts. With industry standard
optimization practices, such as culling, profiling, algorithms for optimized data storage, and efficient gameplay scripts,
we were able to deliver a smooth gameplay in a well optimized 3D game which starts with simply a 200MB installer size.
The game was made with both English and Chinese localization.
This educational coding game has been utilized by the instructors at Kiditech in their summer camps, to teach children how to code in Object Oriented Programming in Java, in the meanwhile with tremendous fun involved.
